Mikayla Miller was found dead in the woods near her home in Hopkinton, MA on Sunday, April 18. Now, a month later, the public is still awaiting the results of an autopsy that could shed light on the manner of her death.

There was a black leather belt around her neck and her body was pitched forward from a tree, seemingly shorn from the joyous breath of life by the mortal pull of gravity. But did she really commit suicide, as the Hopkinton Police have suggested, or was she murdered?

Mikayla’s mother, Calvina Strothers, BLM and LGBTQ advocates are understandably anxious to learn what happened. It is not everyday that a vibrant 16 year old Black girl turns up dead alongside the banks of a popular walking path near her home.

Was her relationship with Kaitlyn Anderson a factor in her death?
